Apio, Inc. Expands the Recall of Eat Smart Salad Shake Ups

(Guadalupe, CA) The popular and convenient single serve salad bowls, Eat Smart Salad Shake Ups, is facing some difficult times.  Recently, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (C.F.I.A.) informed the manufacturer of positive tests.  The manufacturer is the California, U.S.A. based Apio, Inc.  As a result; the aforementioned food manufacturer has expanded the voluntary recall of the popular and convenient, ready to eat, salad line.  The recall is also an effort to spare people from a Listeriosis infection.  The latter, is due to the fact that, Eat Smart Salad Shake Ups tested positive for the bacteria, Listeria monocytogenes.

The positive tests results, of Listeria monocytogenes, were the second from a random sample.  As previously said, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (C.F.I.A.) conducted the tests and informed Apio, Inc.  The most recent positive test; was for the Eat Smart Salad Shake Ups Sweet Kale-Chou Frisé Doux/156 gr. Single Serve Bowls (5.5 oz).  The latter, has the best before date, December 29, 2018.  Additionally, the lot number is 112346.  Listeria monocytogenes is a species of pathogenic bacteria.  Furthermore, it is a facultative anaerobic bacterium, which is capable of surviving in an environment that doesn’t have oxygen.  For young children, the Listeriosis infection can cause serious and sometimes fatal, infections.  The same goes for the elderly, or, people with weakened immune systems.  Normal infections, of the aforementioned, include the following symptoms.  A high fever, a severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea are examples of the previously noted.  Unfortunately, for pregnant women a Listeriosis infection is known to cause miscarriages and stillbirths.  Finally, the Listeriosis infection is very common in manufactured food.

The expanded voluntary recall, is considered to be, a precautionary measure.  Furthermore; it includes all of the food products that were manufactured on the same day, the same product line and the line that tested positive according to the random tests that were conducted by the C.F.I.A.  The complete list, of the recalled food products is below.
