Sony Interactive Entertainment Announces a Playstation 4 Milestone

(San Mateo, CA) In the year 1994, the first Playstation was launched in the Country of Japan. Since then, this video game console has always delivered, the highest levels of innovation. Additionally, it could also be argued that Sony, revolutionized the video game marketplace with the Playstation. Recently, Sony Interactive Entertainment (S.I.E.) enthusiastically revealed a milestone for, the Playstation 4 (PS4). As of December 31^st, 2018, the PS4 has sold more than 91.6 million units worldwide. Additionally, S.I.E. also announced the most successful video game title for the PS4. Marvel’s Spider Man, is indeed, the most successful video game title.

As the PS4’s most successful video game, Marvel’s Spider Man, it has sold more than 9 million copies worldwide. This video game title, was initially launched on September 7^th, 2018. Additionally, it is classified as an action adventure video game. Insomniac Games, licensed the rights and developed the video game, for the Playstation 4. Returning to and for the announced milestone; 5.6 million units, of the more than 91.6 million units, were sold during the holiday season 2018. Additionally and for the same aforementioned holiday season, more than 50.7 million PS4 video games were sold. Finally as of December 31^st, 2018, more than 876 million Playstation 4 video games have been sold worldwide.

Sony Interactive Entertainment did release a press statement. This press statement enthusiastically, celebrates the sales milestone. John Kodera is the President and the C.E.O. of Sony Interactive Entertainment. Through a press statement, Mr. Kodera said the following. “Thanks to the continued support from our fans during the holiday season, we are pleased to announce that PS4 has reached 91.6 million units globally. We are also happy to announce that the monthly active users of PlayStation Network continues to show strong growth, and has surpassed 90 million as of end of November 2018. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our passionate community around the globe, and our partners, for helping us achieve these milestones. This year, we will bring more enhanced experiences to our fans along with a highly anticipated lineup of games that are only possible on PS4. As we look toward the next PS4 milestone, SIE will continue to evolve, and we will further expand the platform to deliver the best interactive entertainment experiences to the world.”

Region is a reference to a sales area that is comprised of Asia, Africa, Europe, South America and Oceania. This reference also indicates, a television publication territory.
