The Prostate Cancer Foundation Launches the Public Service Announcement; Know the Numbers

(Los Angeles, CA) Since it was founded in the year 1993, the Prostate Cancer Foundation has tremendously contributed to the following two things; in regards to prostate cancer.  The first thing is; it has raised more than $788 million USD for prostate cancer philanthropic efforts, and, medical research.  The second thing is, it has provided funding to more than 2,000 research programs.  The previously said, is through almost 200 cancer centers and research universities, in the U.S.A.  Recently, the Prostate Cancer Foundation announced that, it has launched a new public service announcement (P.S.A.).  The latter, is named Know the Numbers.  For, Know the Numbers, the aforementioned philanthropic organization recruited the help of its ambassadors.  Some of the ambassadors that, were called into service are; Harry Lennix, Chris Tucker, Randy Jackson, Rev. Rosey Grier and Brian Custer.

          Harry Lennix, Chris Tucker, Randy Jackson, Rev. Rosey Grier and Brian Custer as ambassadors will perform two roles.  The first role, is to help with the public service announcement, Know the Numbers.  The second role is concurrent to, Know the Numbers.  This role consists of assisting with the campaign to highlight, National Minority Health Month.  This campaign is made up of the release of information, helping with recruitment for a study, participating in social media campaigns and participating in Know the Numbers.  The part, release of information, is the comprehensive prostate cancer patient guide.  Second to the previous is the guide, Prostate Cancer:  Additional Facts for African American Men and their Families.  Both patient guides from the Prostate Cancer Foundation; were designed to be actionable information about the prevention, and, screening of prostate cancer.  Additionally; Chris Tucker, Brian Custer, Charlie Wilson and Snoop Dogg are all quoted in the patient guides.  The helping with recruitment part, is helping to recruit African American men.  These African American men, will take part in the Respond Study.  The Respond Study is a $1 million USD investment.  The goal of the Respond Study is to identify environmental, and, genetic factors that are related to prostate cancer in African American men.  Specifically, what contributes to disproportionately high diagnosis rates or cases.  This recruitment effort, is going to target 10,000 participants, over the next three years.  The part, participation in social media campaigns; has been tasked to Randy Jackson, Chris Tucker, Rev. Rosey Grier and several others.  The aforementioned ambassadors of the Prostate Cancer Foundation will embark on a month long effort, of social media campaigns.  These ambassadors will attempt to grab the attention, of other men.  Then, they will attempt to send these men, in the direction of the Prostate Cancer Foundation.  Finally, Know the Numbers, will have as the official spokesperson; actor Harry Lennix.  Mr. Harry Lennix, is currently a co-star of, The Blacklist.  The Blacklist, is a television series that, is broadcasted on NBC.  The public service announcements that feature Harry Lennix will attempt to encourage men to understand their personal risks, and, to take charge when it comes to prostate cancer.

          Harry Lennix did release a press statement.  Through a press statement, Mr. Lennix said the following.  “I am honored to serve as an ambassador for the Prostate Cancer Foundation and to use my platform to raise awareness about this insidious disease which has affected so many people close to me.  In honor of those I have lost, I am encouraging all men, including African Americans who are at heightened risk, to take the time to familiarize themselves with this disease and to take steps to reduce their risk for developing prostate cancer or to catch it early enough to survive it.”

          To end, the Prostate Cancer Foundation did release a press statement.  Christine N. Jones is the Chief Operating Officer of the Prostate Cancer Foundation.  Through a press statement, Ms./Mrs. Jones said the following.  “Currently, there is focus and large commitment in place to understand why the disparities that affect African American men with prostate cancer exist, and we are finally seeing some progress.  But this is not the time to take the foot off the gas; this is the time to accelerate.”  Christine N. Jones also said.  “We have a two-pronged approach to address this issue—education and awareness—which we know is saving lives on the front end, and investment in science, so we can better understand what is going on so precision treatments can be developed.”  As previously stated, the Prostate Cancer Foundation recently announced that, it has launched a new public service announcement (P.S.A.).  The latter, is named Know the Numbers.  For, Know the Numbers, the aforementioned philanthropic organization recruited the help of its ambassadors.  Some of the ambassadors that, were called into service are; Harry Lennix, Chris Tucker, Randy Jackson, Rev. Rosey Grier and Brian Custer.  Lastly; this effort is also intended, to help raise awareness, for National Minority Health Month.
