The Stratolaunch Systems Corporation Achieves a Historical Benchmark

(Mojave, CA) Early in its awakening, the year 2011 to be more exact, the Stratolaunch Systems Corporation was founded by Paul G. Allen; made famous by the Microsoft Corporation.  The awakening of this very unique business was guided by a principle.  The principle was to safeguard the Planet Earth, for future generations.  The previously said; was to be made achievable through the ability to fly an aircraft, and then, fly into the Earth’s orbit.  It was believed, and it is still believed today that; the previously mentioned guiding principle can be obtained through the enablement of convenient, affordable, routine, airline style access to space.  The enablement, and subsequent, access is hoped to have the ability to empower the world’s problem solvers.  Recently, the Stratolaunch Systems Corporation unveiled, a historical benchmark.  This historical benchmark puts the aforementioned very unique business, one step closer to achieving its guiding principle.  The historical benchmark is, the first successful flight of the world’s largest all-composite aircraft; the Stratolaunch.

The Stratolaunch, as the world’s largest all composite aircraft, departed from the Mojave Air and Space Port at 6:58 am PT.  The date for the departure was, April 13th, 2019.  The first successful flight included achieving a maximum speed of 189 miles per hour, flying up to an altitude of 17,000 feet and flying for about 2 ½ hours.  The previously said; is made impressive due to the fact that, the Stratolaunch, is a dual fuselage design.  Additionally, it has a wingspan that is greater than the overall length, of a football field.  During the flight; the pilots evaluated the Stratolaunch’s performance, and, handling capabilities.  Jody Allen is the Chair of Vulcan, Inc.  Additionally, she is the Trustee of the Paul G. Allen Trust.  Through a press statement, Ms./Mrs. Allen said the following.  We all know Paul would have been proud to witness today’s historic achievement.  The aircraft is a remarkable engineering achievement and we congratulate everyone involved.”

The aircraft; the Stratolaunch, is a mobile launch platform and as previously said, it is hoped that it can provide airline style access to space.  The access to space is made possible through, a reinforced center wing.  This center wing can support multiple launch vehicles.  Additionally, the overall weight of the launch vehicles that, it can support is 500,000 pounds.  The idea is that the launch vehicles are flown up into the sky; from here, the launch vehicles detach and fly up to the Earth’s orbit.  The latter; is also hoped to be convenient, affordable, reliable and routine.  In addition to the pilot’s tests, a test team also conducted standard aircraft testing exercises.  Examples of the previous, are the following.  To start, a variety of flight control maneuvers.  The previously said helps to calibrate speed, and, test the flight control systems.  Through roll doublets, yawning maneuvers, pushovers & pull-ups and steady heading side slips; the flight control maneuvers were conducted.  Second, simulated landing approach exercises were conducted.  For the previously said, the altitude was 15,000 feet.

To end, the Stratolaunch Systems Corporation did release a press statement.  Jean Floyd is the Chief Executive Officer of the Stratolaunch Systems Corporation.  Through a press statement, Ms./Mrs. Floyd said the following.  What a fantastic first flight.  Today’s flight furthers our mission to provide a flexible alternative to ground launched systems.  We are incredibly proud of the Stratolaunch team, today’s flight crew, our partners at Northrup Grumman’s Scaled Composites and the Mojave Air and Space Port.  As previously stated, the Stratolaunch Systems Corporation recently unveiled, a historical benchmark.  This historical benchmark puts the aforementioned very unique business, one step closer to achieving its guiding principle.  The historical benchmark is, the first successful flight of the world’s largest all-composite aircraft; the Stratolaunch.  Lastly; the first successful flight occurred on April 13th, 2019, and, at the Mojave Air and Space Port at 6:58 am PT.
