The two gala events that; highlight the book tour is how Mr. Cocks is attempting to promote his new book, and simultaneously, The Orangutan Project.  Briefly, a gala is a social occasion that, usually features special entertainment or performances.  However and returning to, the non-fiction book, Finding Our Humanity.  As previously said; it attempts to explore the connection, and, shared history between great apes and human beings.  For this effort, Leif Cocks attempts a philosophical approach.  The philosophical approach is meant as an understanding, of how life, can teach us about our own humanity.  The idea is to communicate to the reader; a combination of science, philosophy and real-life stories.  Leif Cocks does hope that, he can shift the reader’s perspective; incidentally.  In order, to communicate his message, Mr. Cocks delves deeply into his more than 30 years of work experience.  The work experience is comprised of working with orangutans, developing conservation plans, protecting the population species and ensuring the survival of the orangutan habitat.  Additionally, Finding Our Humanity, is considered to be the logical next step.  The logical next step forward, from his two previously released non-fiction books; according to Mr. Cocks obviously.  These two books are respectively entitled; Orangutans and Their Battle for Survival, and, Orangutans My Cousins, My Friends.

To end, Leif Cocks did release a press statement.  Through a press statement, Mr. Cocks said the following.  “It can be difficult sometimes for people to see the similarities between humans and orangutans.  I’ve spent the majority of my life with these great apes and witnessed their humanity many times.  We are all Great Apes.  Orangutans and humans share 97% of their DNA makeup.  Orangutans have cognitive thoughts and have as much humanity as you or me, sometimes more so.”  Leif Cocks also said.  “When I say orangutans are people, I get a lot of funny looks.  But they have some of the most beautiful souls you’ll ever come across.  ‘Finding Our Humanity’ isn’t about convincing people orangutans should be protected.  It’s not about pushing an agenda.  It’s not even about conservation efforts.  It’s about helping you understand the connection between other great apes and humans.  We share so much more than DNA, and that heritage deserves to be celebrated.”  Mr. Cocks concluded his press statement, by stating.  “I spend a great deal of my time in the jungle, surveying the heartbreaking damage caused by rampant deforestation of the orangutans’ home, usually to make way for palm oil and other agricultural plantations.  Our focus—and the majority of my time—is spent protecting remaining rainforest so wild orangutan populations can thrive in safety.  I’m looking forward to the opportunity to travel to the U.S. and Canada to meet with like-minded people who care about the plight of critically endangered orangutans as much as we do, because without our shared passion and efforts, their days in the wild are numbered.  I welcome the opportunity to make this a global discussion because we must take action now if we hope to stop these threats and save the unique beings who share our planet, including our gentle, deep thinking and highly sentient cousins, the critically endangered orangutan.”  As previously stated, Leif Cocks recently announced that, he will continue to contribute to his beloved cause.  Specifically, the contribution will be in the form of a non-fiction book.  The non-fiction book is entitled, Finding Our Humanity.  In, Finding Our Humanity; Leif Cocks attempts to explore the connection, and, shared history between great apes and human beings.  As part of the release, Mr. Cocks has also announced a book tour.  Lastly, the book tour is highlighted by two gala events.
