The California Rifle & Pistol Association Announces a Court Victory

(Del Mar, CA) The Del Mar Fairgrounds is popularly known in the State of California, U.S.A., as the home of the San Diego County Fair.  Technically; it is located on 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd., Del Mar, CA 92014.  The 22nd District Agricultural Association (22nd D.A.A.) manages and operates, the Del Mar Fairgrounds.  Additionally, the previously mentioned organization also manages and operates the nearby equestrian facility; the Horsepark and the Del Mar Golf Center.  This effort, is done on behalf of the State of California; incidentally.  However, the board of directors governs the Del Mar Fairgrounds.  The Governor of the State of California, appoints the board of directors.  On January 1st, 2019, a ban on gun shows went into effect.  This ban on gun shows, was passed by the Del Mar Fairgrounds’ Board of Directors.  Recently, the California Rifle & Pistol Association (C.R.P.A.) announced that, it attempted to block the ban on gun shows.  Specifically, the aforementioned organization revealed that, a lawsuit was filed in U.S. Federal Court.  As a result of a preliminary injunction, gun shows will be allowed to be hosted at the Del Mar Fairgrounds; a victory.  The preliminary injunction was issued on, June 17th, 2019.

          On June 17th, 2019 when the preliminary injunction was issued, the day of victory, the specific gun show that was cited was Crossroads of the West Show.  Due to the preliminary injunction, Crossroads of the West Show, is allowed to continue putting on gun shows at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.  The plaintiffs in the federal case are Crossroads of the West Show, the California Rifle & Pistol Association, the Second Amendment Foundation, South Bay Rod, the Gun Club and several other individual persons.  However and returning to; the California Rifle & Pistol Association (C.R.P.A.), this effort is one of several other similar efforts, throughout, the State of California.  The California Rifle & Pistol Association was officially founded, in the year 1875.  Today and along with advocacy through trial courts; it provides training in the safe, responsible and enjoyable use of firearms.  The sanctioning of competitive shooting state championship events, is also, part of the previously stated.

          Returning to, Crossroads of the West Show, the aforementioned is a modern gun bazaar.  In other words, it is not all about guns and bullets.  As part of this modern gun bazaar; there is also a wide selection of food, interesting merchandise and gun related services.  The lawsuit in U.S. Federal Court, attempted to exemplify the previously said.  In fact, the preliminary injunction, is the result of oral arguments.  The victory, after only oral arguments, was granted by U.S. Federal Judge Cathy Bencivengo.  As previously said, the preliminary injunction was granted to the plaintiffs.  Additionally, it prohibited the Del Mar Fairgrounds’ Board of Directors from enforcing the gun show ban.  The same enacted gun show ban that, on January 1st, 2019, went into effect.

          To end, the California Rifle & Pistol Association did release a press statement.  Tiffany Cheuvront is a Civil Rights Attorney.  Additionally, she represents Crossroads of the West Show, in the lawsuit in U.S. Federal Court.  Through a press statement, Ms./Mrs. Cheuvront said the following.  “We’re thankful Judge Bencivengo sees the Constitutional problem with banning these safe, perfectly-legal events and is allowing the show to go on while we continue to fight.  We’re confident that as this case progresses, law-abiding Americans’ civil rights will not be unjustly violated and that we will prevail.”  Tiffany Cheuvront also said.  “These well-funded anti-gun groups are using every myth in the book to push their anti-gun agenda on a legal, safe, and family-friendly event that has been held for years because they simply don’t like guns.  This is a huge first victory for those involved in the case including CRPA, Second Amendment Foundation, South Bay Rod and Gun Club and all of the individual plaintiffs.”  As previously stated, the California Rifle & Pistol Association recently announced that, it attempted to block the ban on gun shows.  Specifically, the aforementioned organization revealed that, a lawsuit was filed in U.S. Federal Court.  As a result of a preliminary injunction, gun shows will be allowed to be hosted at the Del Mar Fairgrounds; a victory.  Lastly the preliminary injunction was issued on, June 17th, 2019.
