(San Jose,
CA) Infotainment systems, in-car
entertainment (ICE) and in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) are the same term and
they are interchangeably used.
Specifically, the aforementioned term is a collection of hardware and
software in automobiles. This device of
hardware and software provides audio and/or video entertainment. The origins of infotainment systems, in-car
entertainment and in-vehicle infotainment begins with the simple car audio
system. The same car audio system that;
once played the radio, a cassette tape or a compact disc. The incorporation of an automotive navigation
system, was the next step; technologically and logically speaking. Recently, Maxim Integrated Products, Inc.
announced that, it possesses a high level of expertise when it comes to
infotainment systems. Specifically, the
aforementioned business revealed that, its proprietary technology solutions are
in Mediatek’s AUTUS I20 (MT2712). The
latter, is an in-vehicle infotainment platform (IVI). Technically; the proprietary technology
solutions are MAX9286, MAX96705, MAX15007, MAX8902 and MAX20010.
Maxim’s
MAX9286, MAX96705, MAX15007, MAX8902 and MAX20010 as proprietary technology
solutions; do the following things. To
start, these technology solutions enhance automotive video distribution, and,
provide power management innovations.
The aforementioned, is essential in order to meet the strict
requirements of car manufacturers, and, tier-1 suppliers. These technology solutions also include;
Maxim’s gigabit multimedia serial link serializer (GMSL), and, deserializer
(SerDes). The aforementioned, enables
video transmission in infotainment systems.
However and returning to, Mediatek’s AUTUS I20 (MT2712). The latter, is a high performance hexa-core
infotainment platform. Additionally, it
is best characterized by its flexible interface that, supports multiple
displays. This infotainment platform
enables the delivery of information and content, from the automobile’s sensors
and multimedia sources. As a result, the
driver becomes linked to his or her automobile.
This phenomenon dramatically improves the driving experience, passenger
safety, connectivity and level of personal entertainment. JC Hsu is the Corporate Vice President of
Mediatek, Inc. Through a press
statement, Mr. Hsu said the following.
“MediaTek’s IVI platform meets automakers’ and auto suppliers’
requirements for high levels of integration, comprehensive multimedia packages,
premium features and full connectivity.
Working with Maxim on video distribution and power management helps
support its scalability, allowing partners to select a platform that meets
their specific needs.”
For
Mediatek’s AUTUS I20 (MT2712); Maxim’s MAX9286, MAX96705, MAX15007, MAX8902 and
MAX20010 provide the following key advantages.
The key advantages, are in relation to a competitor, of course. The key advantages are next-generation GMSL
SerDes, robust connectivity and power management. The next-generation GMSL SerDes, improves the
video data delivery distance, from a transmission source. The distance has been improved, or
strengthened, from 12 meters to 15 meters.
The latter, enables a surround view of video from a single chip, to four
input channels. Additionally, the frame
rate is synchronized, and, the SoC is offloaded. Furthermore, the MIPI-CSI-2 output is fully
enabled and supported. Overall, the
electromagnetic interference (EMI) is reduced, through, a spread spectrum
feature. The robust connectivity, is the
essence of the GMSL SerDes technology solution.
The latter, maintains data integrity for more than 15 meters. Power management, is enabled by Maxim’s
MAX20010. The latter, enables a dynamic
voltage scaling, and, high current buck conversion. This allows Mediatek’s AUTUS I20 (MT2712) to
be upgraded. The upgrade is to a faster
and higher voltage, 4GB LPDDR4/DDR4 Ram Memory.
This transfers to the processor more power, which in turn, enables more
multimedia. The more multimedia options
include video heavy applications that, are also seen in various types of in-car
display monitors.
To
end, Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. (NASDAQ:
MXIM) did release a press statement.
Randall Wollschlager is the Vice President of the Automotive Business
Unit at Maxim Integrated Products, Inc.
Through a press statement, Mr. Wollschlager said the following. “The robust growth of automotive infotainment
systems means it is more important than ever to deliver solutions that help our
partners meet their high-performance requirements with the greatest efficiency
and flexibility. By working closely with
MediaTek, we are driving the automotive industry forward with this powerful
in-vehicle infotainment technology that delivers advanced features and
trail-blazing integration.” As
previously stated, Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. recently announced that, it
possesses a high level of expertise when it comes to infotainment systems. Specifically, the aforementioned business
revealed that, its proprietary technology solutions are in Mediatek’s AUTUS I20
(MT2712). The latter, is an in-vehicle
infotainment platform (IVI). Lastly and
technically; the proprietary technology solutions are MAX9286, MAX96705,
MAX15007, MAX8902 and MAX20010.
