Santa Catalina Island’s Hotel Atwater Reopens to the Public

(Avalon, CA) For the most part, Santa Catalina Island is commonly and frequently referred to as; Catalina Island, or, simply Catalina.  Irregardless of which, it is a captivating small island with a tremendous amount of charm.  Additionally; small as in it is 22 miles long (35 km), and, 8 miles (13 km) wide.  Furthermore, it is located about 29 miles off the south-southwest coast of Long Beach, California U.S.A.  Interestingly, it is still part of Los Angeles County.  As far as the tourist action is concerned, the City of Avalon, is at the center of things.  Recently, the Catalina Island Company announced that, the City of Avalon continues to be the center of the tourist action.  Specifically, the aforementioned business revealed that, the Hotel Atwater has reopened to the general public.  The Hotel Atwater, is located in the City of Avalon, Santa Catalina Island.  The reopening is due to the fact that, this hotel property has been extensively renovated.

          The extensive construction renovation of the Hotel Atwater, a Santa Catalina Island hotel, is also considered to be a transformation.  Transformation is used in the sense that, this hotel is considered to be a historic hotel.  Historic is used in the sense that, this hotel first opened in the City of Avalon, in the year 1920.  Obviously, the aforementioned fact, is very close to a 100 year anniversary.  Continuing with this line of thought, and, continuing with the Hotel Atwater.  The construction renovation project, aimed at a fresh design; incidentally.  Through a fresh design idea; modern amenities were added to this hotel, and all the while, the historic roots were preserved.  The historic roots, also include, the legacy of the Wrigley family; fascinatingly.

          The Wrigley family’s legacy, in reference to the Hotel Atwater, begins with the name of the hotel.  This hotel property, is named after Helen Atwater Wrigley.  The aforementioned person, is the wife of a Wrigley son; Philip Knight Wrigley.  In an effort to honor Helen Atwater Wrigley, and, post construction renovation project the following was preserved.  The Hotel Atwater kept nostalgic elements, and, hospitality elements.  The nostalgic elements can be seen, throughout, the hotel property.  Specifically; the nostalgic elements are the bud vases, the carnations and the complimentary splits of sparkling wine.  The hospitality elements are the hotel lobby, the Wrigley family safe, the Wrigley books of the family’s history, an accordion and a harp.

          To end, the Catalina Island Company did not reveal the total cost of the extensive construction renovation project.  However, it did release a press statement.  Randall Herrel is the President and the Chief Executive Officer of the Catalina Island Company.  Through a press statement, Mr. Herrel said the following.  Hotel Atwater was the first major project undertaken by chewing gum magnate William Wrigley Jr. after he purchased the Catalina Island Company in 1919, and its reopening is truly a significant event in the island’s history.”  Randall Herrel also said.  “Through thoughtful renovation, we’re excited to be able to offer an enhanced guest experience that stays true to Hotel Atwater’s historic beginnings, celebrates the centennial of Wrigley falling in love with the destination, and gives guests another compelling reason to visit Catalina Island.”  As previously stated, the Catalina Island Company recently announced that, the City of Avalon continues to be the center of the tourist action.  Specifically, the aforementioned business revealed that, the Hotel Atwater has reopened to the general public.  The Hotel Atwater, is located in the City of Avalon, Santa Catalina Island.  Lastly, the reopening is due to the fact that, this hotel property has been extensively renovated.
