The Palm Springs Art Museum Launches the Art Exhibition; Barbara Stauffacher Solomon-Breaking All the Rules

(Palm Springs, CA) In the year 1938, when the Palm Springs Art Museum was founded, it was named the Palm Springs Desert Museum.  At that time, the original location was located at, La Plaza.  The latter, is downtown Palm Springs, California U.S.A.  The original focus was natural science exhibits, Cahuilla Native American artifacts and hiking excursions.  Regrettably, the next 20 years proved to be almost tumultuous.  In the year 1958, the Palm Springs Desert Museum, found its first permanent home.  The home was the southwest corner of Tahquitz-McCallum Way, and, Indian Avenue.  In the years that followed, the museum’s focus shifted.  Recently, the Palm Springs Art Museum announced that, it always stays focused on its mission.  Specifically, the aforementioned museum revealed that, it has launched an art exhibition.  The art exhibition is entitled, Barbara Stauffacher Solomon-Breaking All the Rules.  In; Barbara Stauffacher Solomon-Breaking All the Rules, the Palm Springs Art Museum showcases graphic, and, landscape designs.

          The graphic and landscape designs that, are showcased by the Palm Springs Art Museum, will be open to the general public during the following dates.  Officially; beginning October 5th, 2019 and ending January 20th, 2020, is when, Barbara Stauffacher Solomon-Breaking All the Rules will be open to the general public.  However and retuning to, the Palm Springs Art Museum, the aforementioned organization is now defined by a new focus or mission.  The new focus or mission; is to create transformative experiences that, expand the understanding of oneself in relation to ourselves, and, the world.  The Board of Trustees in the year 2004, decided to permanently shift the focus or mission; incidentally.  The idea for the mission was a multi-disciplinary, world class art museum that, has a vibrant theater program.  In order to accomplish this idea; the primary specializations of architecture, photography and contemporary glass were chosen.  As a result of all of the changes, and in the year 2005, the name was changed.  The name; Palm Springs Art Museum, was selected to replace, Palm Springs Desert Museum.  Currently, the Palm Springs Art Museum employs the use of three museum locations.  The first location, is also, the central location; the Palm Springs Art Museum.  The latter is located on, 101 Museum Drive, Palm Springs, California 92262.  The second location, is the Palm Springs Art Museum Architecture and Design Center.  The latter is located on, 300 S. Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, California 92262.  The third location, is the Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert.  The latter is located on, 72-567 Highway 111, Palm Desert, California 92260.

          Continuing with; Barbara Stauffacher Solomon-Breaking All the Rules, the aforementioned art exhibition is organized, and, has been sponsored.  Officially, Brooke Hodge is the exhibition’s organizer.  Additionally, the sponsors are as follows; Donna MacMillan, Yvonne & Steve Maloney, Dr. Roswitha Kima Smale, L.J. Cella, Vicki & Bill Hood, David Kaplan, Glenn Ostergaard, Dorothy C. Meyerman and the Herman & Faye Sarkowsky Charitable Foundation.  The art exhibition, Barbara Stauffacher Solomon-Breaking All the Rules, attempts the following.  It attempts to be an art exhibition that references architecture, landscape architecture, graphic design and supergraphic design.  Additionally, the aforementioned references are Barbara’s works of art.  These works of art, are a lifetime’s collection.  Specifically, the time period is the 1980s to the present time.  As an example of what was previously stated, in the year 1988, Barbara Stauffacher Solomon wrote a book.  The book is entitled, Green Architecture and the Agrarian Garden.  In this literary effort; Ms./Mrs. Stauffacher Solomon explores the idea of the green rectangle as a symbol of parks, gardens, public squares and parking lots.  The point is, drawings and sketches, from this creative process will be on display; as part of the art exhibition.  Drawings and sketches of landscape architecture, is also part, of the previously stated.  Finally, the art exhibition, Barbara Stauffacher Solomon-Breaking All the Rules, will be held at the location; Palm Springs Art Museum Architecture and Design Center.

          To end, the Palm Springs Art Museum did release press statements.  JoAnn McGrath is an Honorary Life Trustee of the Palm Springs Art Museum.  Through a press statement, Ms./Mrs. McGrath said the following.  “Bobbie Solomon is enjoying something of a renaissance right now and it is an absolute thrill to have her create a special installation just for Palm Springs.”  Brooke Hodge is the Director of Architecture and Design at the Palm Springs Art Museum.  Through a press statement, Ms./Mrs. Hodge said the following.  “It has been amazing to work closely with Bobbie over the past year to bring this exhibition to life and I am excited to introduce the work of this inspiring woman to a new generation of design lovers.  Not only did Bobbie break the rules by blowing up her designs to an architectural scale at The Sea Ranch, she also broke the rules by encouraging museum visitors to play ping pong in the exhibition gallery.”  Brooke Hodge also said; “At SFMOMA, the ping pong playing was short-lived but in Palm Springs we hope it will echo throughout the space for the entire run of the show.”  As previously stated, the Palm Springs Art Museum recently announced that, it always stays focused on its mission.  Specifically, the aforementioned museum revealed that, it has launched an art exhibition.  The art exhibition is entitled, Barbara Stauffacher Solomon-Breaking All the Rules.  In; Barbara Stauffacher Solomon-Breaking All the Rules, the Palm Springs Art Museum showcases graphic, and, landscape designs.  Lastly, the exhibition duration is October 5th, 2019 to January 20th, 2020.
