Acura Motorsports Shines Bright at the I.M.S.A.’s Monterey Grand Prix

(Monterey, CA) After the I.M.S.A.’s Monterey Grand Prix at the Weather Tech Raceway Laguna Seca, there is the Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.  Obviously, the aforementioned racing events are part of the 2019 I.M.S.A. Weather Tech Sports Car Championship.  The type of race car, is the Daytona Prototype International.  The Petit Le Mans is the official finale, of the racing season.  Additionally; it is a ten hour sports car endurance race, and, the 2019 racing event is scheduled for October 10th to the 12th, 2019.  The latter, is normally held at the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.  This speedway is located in Braselton, Georgia U.S.A.  For the most part, the same rules as the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans are used.  The only difference is, the rules have been slightly changed to accommodate, more race cars competing.  Interestingly, the first Petit Le Mans was held in the year, 1998.  Recently, Acura Motorsports announced that, it knows that the Petit Le Mans is next.  Specifically, the aforementioned business revealed that, it shined very bright at the I.M.S.A.’s Monterey Grand Prix.  The cause for celebration is a double, first and second place finish, for the Acura team.  Additionally, in this same GTD race the Acura NSX GT3 Evo, finished in sixth place.

          The sixth place finish in the GTD race, and, the double first and second place finish by Acura Team Penske; is indeed a cause for celebration.  The reason being, is that Acura Motorsports, has unofficially clinched the 2019 International Motor Sports Association (I.M.S.A.) Manufacturers’ Championship.  Additionally; Juan Pablo Montoya and Dane Cameron can win the 2019 Drivers’ Title with an eighth place finish, or better, at the 2019 Petit Le Mans.  However and returning to, the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, the aforementioned is a 2.54 mile (4.088 km) speedway.  Fascinatingly; this speedway is owned by I.M.S.A. Holdings, LLC, through a subsidiary, Road Atlanta, LLC.  The sponsorship name rights were acquired by Michelin, in the year 2018.  The actual race track is famously known for its 12 turns.  The area between turn 3 and turn 5 is known as the, “esses.”  Turn 12, finishes off the fame factor, because, it is a unique turn.  The unique aspect is that, it is a downhill diving turn.  Finally; the asphalt surface makes this speedway perfect for sports car events, motorcycle races, other types of racing and driving schools.

          Returning to, the double first and second place finish, the aforementioned was accomplished by Acura Team Penske.  Specifically, the #6 Acura ARX-05 Prototype is driven by two drivers.  The drivers are Dane Cameron, and, Juan Pablo Montoya.  The racing team is, Acura Team Penske.  For the 2019 I.M.S.A. Monterey Grand Prix, the driver who officially won first place was Dane Cameron.  The second place finish was won by the #7 Acura ARX-05 Prototype.  Additionally, this race car has two drivers.  The two drivers are Ricky Taylor, and, Helio Castroneves.  The racing team is, Acura Team Penske.  The driver who officially won second place was Ricky Taylor.  Dane Cameron did release a press statement.  Through a press statement, Mr. Cameron said the following.  “It’s really, really nice to get a big win here.  This is the level of performance and execution [three wins and seven consecutive podium finishes] that is expected of a Team Penske program:  to be a contender for race wins week-in and week-out.  It’s what makes us excited to be a part of it.  It’s also what is expected of us as a group.  I really feel like we’re firing on all cylinders and the team is doing an amazing job with both pit stops and race strategy.  The car’s been absolutely amazing.”  Ricky Taylor did release a press statement.  Through a press statement, Mr. Taylor said the following.  “The primary goal today was to maximize the [championship] points for the #6 car [their teammates].  After today, they’re going to the Petit Le Mans season finale in great shape.  It’s a perfect day for the team.  We were there to support them the best way we could and bring Acura our second 1-2 finish of the season.  I’m really happy for the #6 car guys and the team, and now we can focus on getting the win at Petit.”

          Returning to, the GTD race, the aforementioned gave Acura Motorsports the following.  A sixth place, and, an eighth place finish is what it gave.  Christina Nielsen and Katherine Legge are co-drivers of the #57 Acura NSX GT3 Evo.  Additionally, the racing team is Heinricher/Meyer Shank Racing.  For this same GTD race of the 2019 I.M.S.A. Monterey Grand Prix; Katherine Legge drove, and, won sixth place.  Mario Farnbacher and Trent Hindman are co-drivers of the #86 Acura NSX GT3 Evo.  Additionally, the racing team is Heinricher/Meyer Shank Racing.  Mario Farnbacher drove, and, won eighth place.  Fascinatingly; even though the #86 Acura NSX GT3 Evo finished in eighth place, it is 32 points ahead, of the other teams and drivers.  Therefore and unofficially, Mario Farnbacher and Trent Hindman have won the 2019 GTD Drivers’ Championship.  Katherine Legge did release a press statement.  Through a press statement, Ms./Mrs. Legge said the following.  It was a tough race with varying degrees of tire degradation.  I think we had great pace at the beginning of each stint, but after that it became a matter of preserving tires.  Basically, we finished one place ahead of where we started.  I think we deserved a top five, but unfortunately that’s not the way it worked out.”  Mario Farnbacher did release a press statement.  Through a press statement, Mr. Farnbacher said the following.  We struggled a little bit for speed.  It seemed like the Lamborghinis were on a different planet today.  We did the best we could do to hit our smaller goals; we finished the race and scored points for the championship.  Unfortunately, the Sprint Cup championship is over and you aren’t always going to win everything.  I feel like we made the best of what we had today, and we’re in good shape going to Road Atlanta.”

          To end, Acura Motorsports did release a press statement.  Matthew Niles is the Principal Engineer at Honda Performance Development.  Through a press statement, Mr. Niles said the following.  “It was near-perfect weekend for us.  It doesn’t get much better than starting and finishing 1-2.  The teamwork and execution from Acura Team Penske were exemplary, and we’re very close to achieving all of our championship goals for the season.  But the job’s not quite done, and we need to continue to focus all of our efforts on finishing strong next month at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.”  As previously stated, Acura Motorsports recently announced that, it knows that the Petit Le Mans is next.  Specifically, the aforementioned business revealed that, it shined very bright at the I.M.S.A.’s Monterey Grand Prix.  The cause for celebration is a double, first and second place finish, for the Acura team.  Additionally, in the GTD race the Acura NSX GT3 Evo, finished in sixth place.  Lastly, Acura Motorsports has unofficially won the 2019 Manufacturers’ Championship.
