Astronomer, Inc. Secures $5.7 Million USD in a Funding Round

(San Francisco, CA and Cincinnati, OH) Apache Airflow is a computer programmer’s tool that is used for authoring, scheduling and monitoring workflows.  Interestingly, it is also an open source tool.  The actual performance is the ability to perform, complex computational workflows.  This ability, in turn, enables data processing pipelines.  For the devops team at a business, Apache Airflow, is ideal for long scripts.  To start; the aforementioned open source tool is capable of executing long scripts, and, it can maintain a calendar of big data processing batch jobs.  Astronomer, Inc. is a computer software and technology business that has placed the future of the business, on Apache Airflow.  The future begins with the ability to run, monitor and scale Apache Airflow clusters for a monthly subscription fee.  The latter; can be performed on Astronomer’s internet cloud, or, the individual business’s internet cloud.  Obviously, the previously said ends up being a good example, of what has been stated.  Recently; Astronomer, Inc. announced that, it wishes to make available Apache Airflow as a monthly subscription service, for a long time.  Specifically, the aforementioned business revealed that, it has secured $5.7 million USD in a funding round.  As part of the funding round, Tim Guleri will be joining the board of directors.  The most noteworthy new investors of Astronomer, Inc. are Sierra Ventures, Bain Capital Ventures, Refinery Ventures, Frontline Capital Ventures, Cincy Tech, Wireframe Ventures and Grand Ventures.

Grand Ventures, Wireframe Ventures, Cincy Tech, Frontline Capital Ventures, Refinery Ventures, Bain Capital Ventures and Sierra Ventures as the most noteworthy new investors; will be contributing funds.  The funds will be used for the following one thing.  The one thing is the continuation of business growth.  In reference to, the continuation of business growth, the aforementioned is based on Apache Airflow.  In other words; if Astronomer, Inc. wants to continue growing, then, it has to do it through Apache Airflow.  However, confidence levels are high.  Apache Airflow was initially developed at Airbnb, and, it started as an open source project in the year 2016.  Since then; Uber, Lyft, Twitter, Pay Pal and Apple have all adopted Apache Airflow.  It is reported that, to this date, Apache Airflow has been downloaded more than 2 million times.  Interestingly, the monthly average is estimated at, 250,000 downloads for each month.

However and returning to; Astronomer, Inc., the aforementioned business operates out of the internet platform, Astronomer.io.  As previously said, it is a monthly subscription service.  Astronomer.io is built on, and, it is seamlessly integrated with Kubernetes native services.  The combination of the Kubernetes integration, with, Apache Airflow is Astronomer’s first product; Astronomer Cloud.  The previous; is the basic package that is meant for devops teams, or, I.T. teams.  As a basic package monthly service, Astronomer Cloud, provides the use of Apache Airflow.  The second product on the Astronomer.io platform is, Astronomer Enterprise.  The previous, is Astronomer Cloud’s next step forward.  Therefore, Astronomer Enterprise is considered to be, a new standard for the ability to scale.  This ability to scale, in turn, enables higher performance and reliability for Apache Airflow enterprise deployments.  On Astronomer.io, Astronomer Enterprise comes with a secure service console.  This secure service console enables a policy engine, and, it enables the ability to manage Apache Airflow deployments.  As part of the funding round and as previously said, Tim Guleri, will be joining Astronomer’s Board of Directors.  Tim Guleri is the Managing Director of Sierra Ventures.  Through a press statement, Mr. Guleri said the following.  Astronomer is creating a new multi-billion dollar developer-led category:  Programmatic Data Integration Platform.  I love big macro trends and innovative teams, and I found that in Astronomer.  We look forward to working with their talented leadership team in its next phase of growth.”

Maxime Beauchemin is the Creator of Apache Airflow.  Additionally, she is also a Strategic Consultant at Astronomer, Inc.  Through a press statement, Ms./Mrs. Beauchemin said the following.  “I created Airflow to help data engineers solve complex data orchestration problems.  It’s very exciting and rewarding to see adoption accelerate to so many data teams around the world.  I’m honored to continue partnering with Astronomer and the vibrant Airflow Community to fulfill the vision and potential of Airflow.”

To end, Astronomer, Inc. did release a press statement.  Joe Otto is the Chief Executive Officer of Astronomer, Inc.  Through a press statement, Mr. Otto said the following.  “It’s easy to see why Airflow has reached such unprecedented levels of adoption by data engineering teams across the globe.  With this financing, we are directing more investment toward the Apache Airflow project to bolster the already impressive capabilities of Airflow, and are partnering with leading world wide organizations to improve the efficiency of their complex data flows and create a new standard for data orchestration in the modern enterprise.”  As previously stated; Astronomer, Inc. recently announced that, it wishes to make available Apache Airflow as a monthly subscription service, for a long time.  Specifically, the aforementioned business revealed that, it has secured $5.7 million USD in a funding round.  As part of the funding round, Tim Guleri will be joining the board of directors.  Lastly; the most noteworthy new investors of Astronomer, Inc. are Sierra Ventures, Bain Capital Ventures, Refinery Ventures, Frontline Capital Ventures, Cincy Tech, Wireframe Ventures and Grand Ventures.
