Ascend.io Expands its Unified Data Engineering Platform


(Palo Alto, CA) Currently, the Ascend Unified Data Engineering Platform can be used on top of Apache Spark clusters, or, it can be deployed as a completely managed software technology solution.  This is made possible by, a more architecting less plumbing, design concept.  Officially, the design concept is known as, Ascend Data Aware Intelligence.  The latter, observes and maintains detailed records of programmer’s code.  Specifically; it maintains detailed records of data movement and processing, changes in the programmer’s code and changes in the user’s activity.  The purpose is the enablement of data pipelines that, can run at optimal levels of efficiency.  In turn; an integrated lineage tracking, an auditability component and a governance system are produced.  Recently, Ascend.io announced that, it wishes to be considered “the industry’s first.”  Specifically, the aforementioned business revealed that, it has expanded the Ascend Unified Data Engineering Platform.  The expansion was done through, the introduction of Ascend Govern.  The latter; is a suite of tracking, reporting and security capabilities that is meant for data.
            The understanding of data, which is crucial for a business’s operations is now aided by Ascend Govern.  Additionally, Ascend Govern and as previously said, is part of the newly expanded Ascend Unified Data Engineering Platform.  As a result, the recently expanded Ascend Unified Data Engineering Platform, is now capable of calculating data’s return on investment.  The data’s return on investment; can show where the business is impacted through integrated cataloging, costing, lineage, security and reporting features.  However and returning to, the Ascend Unified Data Engineering Platform, the aforementioned proprietary software technology solution is how data pipelines are created.  As previously said, Ascend Data Aware Intelligence, is the power source of the concept.  In other words, the Ascend Unified Data Engineering Platform, is meant to be used by the computer software business’s data teams.  These data teams, in turn, receive the following.  What data teams receive is a build velocity that is ten times faster, and, an automated maintenance for modern data pipelines.  The previously said, and fascinatingly occurs with 95% less programmer’s code.  Additionally; it occurs in a way that liberates the business’s data teams beyond traditional E.T.L., and, data orchestration tools.  The former and the latter; produce the ability to ingest, build, run, integrate and govern advanced data pipelines.  The ability to generate autonomous data pipelines that can adapt to changes in the data, the programmer’s code or the environment is also part; of the previously stated.
            Returning to, Ascend Govern, the aforementioned software technology solution principally does the following.  Ascend Govern maintains linkages between code, data and users.  This is accomplished through recording, and, permanent maintenance.  The former and the latter, and in turn provide an in-depth understanding.  This in-depth understanding creates a level of visibility and auditability, which has never previously existed.  For example, data governance capabilities that are derived from, large scale data management architectures.  Overall, the recently expanded Ascend Unified Data Engineering Platform is highlighted by the following seven features.  The seven features are; Automated Cataloging, Data Lineage Service, Resource & Cost Reporting, Secure Data Feeds, Activity Monitoring & Reporting, Dynamic Spark Cluster Management and Data Garbage Collection.  Automated Cataloging, which is now powered by Ascend Govern, provides the business’s data teams with the following.  It provides an organized and searchable access to all of the programmer’s code, and subsequently, collected data.  Additionally, new data sets and code, are automatically registered.  Data Lineage Service, is how a data team can track down, where data came from.  Additionally, it can also track where the data was run as a series of programmer’s code.  Furthermore, it can also track where the data went.  Resource & Cost Reporting, is how data is kept in the system.  For example, it reports the resources that are required to produce and maintain, the data.  Additionally, the past and present locations of the data in the system, are also reported.  Secure Data Feeds, is how data pipelines are connected.  The latter; is meant for a business and across the business’s organizational, and, security boundaries.  The idea is to limit data access, all the while, preserving metadata lineage and integrity.  Activity Monitoring & Reporting; is how users, data and system events are tracked.  Additionally, integration into external platforms is possible.  Dynamic Spark Cluster Management; is the dynamic creation, and, destruction of Apache Spark clusters.  The idea is responding to processing needs.  In other words; it is how programmer’s code can run on an Apache Spark cluster, and, within the appropriate security boundary.  The idea is to prevent credential, or, data leakage.  Finally, Data Garbage Collection is how data is permanently deleted.
