Viking Cruises Launches Seven New River Cruise Ships

(Los Angeles, CA) Viking Cruises does business through two business divisions; Viking River Cruises, and, Viking Ocean Cruises.  For the business division, Viking River Cruises, there is always plenty of positive mystique.  The charisma and charm that; is the mystique is due to the fact that, the aforementioned business division, offers unmatched access to Europe’s rivers.  A river cruise, to be exact, about the type of access it provides to Europe’s rivers.  Recently, Viking Cruises revealed that, it has launched seven new river cruise ships.  For the seven new river cruise ships, six continue with the traditional longship design.  Meanwhile, the seventh is inspired by the traditional longship design.  Overall, all seven new river cruise ships are destined for river cruises, on the European continent.  Additionally, they are destined for duty under the business division, Viking River Cruises.

          The destined river cruises on the European continent are made up of; the rivers Rhine, Main, Danube and Douro.  For Viking River Cruises; the river cruises on the Rhine River, the Main River and Danube River are the most popular travel itineraries.  As a result, these travel itineraries deserved special attention.  Therefore, six new river cruise ships is the perfect amount, of special attention.  The names of the six new river cruise ships are; Viking Einar, Viking Sigrun, Viking Sigyn, Viking Tir, Viking Ullur and Viking Vali.  As previously said, these new river cruise ships are traditional longships.  The Douro River is in the Country of Portugal, and, that river cruise is increasing in popularity.  In the Country of Portugal the new river cruise ship, Viking Helgrim, becomes the fourth Viking river ship.  As previously said, the design of this new river cruise ship is inspired by the traditional longship design.

          The naming ceremony, for the aforementioned seven ships, took place on the Rhine River in Basel, Switzerland.  Interestingly, the naming ceremony was a satellite event.  Specifically, four European cities where connected through satellite, in order, to conduct the naming ceremony event.  The naming ceremony in Basel Switzerland, was the principal ceremony.  Meanwhile; the other locations followed through satellite, and, were secondary ceremony events.  For all of the ceremony event locations, the maritime tradition of breaking a bottle on the bow was kept.  The bottle was a bottle of Gammel Opland aquavit.  Aquavit, or akvavit, is a distilled spirit.  Additionally, it is primarily produced in Scandinavia.  Furthermore, it is very popular in the Country of Germany.  Only the river cruise ships Viking Einar and Viking Sigrun, were docked in Basel, Switzerland.  The river cruise ships Viking Sigyn and Viking Ullur, were docked in Rostock, Germany.  The river cruise ships Viking Tir and Viking Vali, were docked in Brunsbuttel, Germany.  Finally, the river cruise ship Viking Helgrim, was docked in Porto, Portugal.

          The naming ceremony also maintained a second tradition; the Godmother.  In order to honor, this maritime tradition, seven longtime employees of Viking Cruises were asked to be a Godmother.  Obviously, there is one Godmother for each ship.  The Godmothers are:  Leah Talactac, Godmother of Viking Einar; Natalia Hofmann, Godmother of Viking Helgrim; Wendy Atkin-Smith, Godmother of Viking Sigrun; Rikke Semb Pertile, Godmother of Viking Sigyn; Gisela Ruckert, Godmother of Viking Tir; Linh Banh, Godmother of Viking Ullur and Minxuan Zhao, Godmother of Viking Vali.  The Godmothers were at the locations, where the river cruise ships were docked.
